RYZ Up for Farm Safety This Harvest

Harvest is one of the busiest (and most dangerous) times of year on the farm. Long days, heavy equipment, and the push to get crops out before the weather turns can make it easy to cut corners. But no bushel is worth more than making sure everyone gets home safe at the end of the day. That’s the heart behind our fall campaign: RYZ Up for Farm Safety.

Simple Safety Reminders for Harvest:

  1. Stay sharp in the seat
Tired eyes and long nights don’t mix well with big equipment. Take breaks, drink water, and know when it’s time to shut down for a bit.

  2. Take it slow around equipment
Don’t assume someone running a combine or tractor sees you. Make sure you have eye contact first. And no extra riders unless the machine was built for it.

  3. Check it before you run it
Walk around the machine, look at your lights, brakes, and shields. A quick check in the yard can save you from trouble in the field.

  4. Be seen on the road
Harvest means moving equipment on highways and gravel roads. Flashers, reflective tape, and slow-moving signs go a long way in keeping you and others safe.

  5. Talk it over at home
Make sure kids know where the “safe spots” are around the yard and fields. Everyone on the farm should know how to stay clear of moving machines.
